In celebration of the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (“CPC”), the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) under SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) organised two screening sessions of the movie 1921 for its staff members on 1 July 2021 at Cinema Alegria. The event was officiated by Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR Mr. Wan Su Cheng, President of the Board of Macao Federation of Trade Unions Mr. Lee Chong Cheng, as well as Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee Ms. Angela Leong. The two screenings received overwhelming response from the staff members, recording a participation of over 500 members.

SJM aimed to deepen staff members’ understanding about the history and development of CPC over the century. Ms. Angela Leong, in her opening remarks, encouraged the team members to bear in mind the aspiration and mission of CPC, and urged them to stand firmly with the company to protect Macau. Recently, SJM had collaborated with Macao Federation of Trade Unions on various projects, covering training, games and contests, and family activities, aiming to cultivate a sustainable harmonious working relationship between employers and employees, who will together build Macau into “a world centre of tourism and leisure” with economic diversification, and promote further integration into the national development plan.

The movie 1921 commemorates the birth of the Communist Party of China since its First National Congress. Filled with patriotic elements, the movie tells a story of the CPC rather than simply presenting its history, invoking empathy amongst the young people.

An ardent supporter of patriotic education, SJM has been supporting various activities organised by the Macau SAR Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR and other entities. In celebration of the centenary of the CPC, SJM will organise a series of activities for its members to deepen their understanding about the CPC and to promote patriotism.
