Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) continues to support the Macao International Dragon Boat Races this year by forming six dragon boat teams to participate in this annual sports event.

The launch ceremony of SJM dragon boats was held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on 20 May 2021, officiated by Ms. Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, and Dr. Rui Cunha, Secretary-General of SJM, and attended by SJM’s senior management.

Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, sent her blessings to the team. She said, “As an ardent supporter of Macau’s dragon boat races, SJM is pleased to help promote the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, and its theme of patriotism to the world.”

Ms. Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee cheered the dragon boat team members. “Every year SJM organises staff teams to participate in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races, joining forces with the government in promoting traditional Chinese sports culture, and in the development of Macau’s sports and tourism development.”

As a locally rooted company, SJM is committed to upholding the spirit of loving the Motherland and Macau by promoting patriotism among staff members through a series of activities. Under the coordination of the SJM Cultural-Recreational and Social Services Department, two big dragon boats and four small dragon boats were formed, comprising a total of 80 male and female staff members, with Chan Weng Kit and Fok Chi Chiu as chief and vice team leader, respectively. The team members have trainings throughout the year to prepare for the competition, showcasing the SJM spirit of unity.

SJM will participate in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races on 13 and 14 June 2021 with five dragon boats under the male’s group: SJM Golden Jubilee (Large), SJM Golden Jubilee A (Small), SJM Golden Jubilee B (Small), SJM Prosperity A (Small), and SJM Prosperity B (Small), and one dragon boat under the female’s group: SJM Lotus (Large). In strict adherence to the government’s preventive measures, the SJM dragon boat team members are well-prepared for the competition, striving to win more victories for the company.
